DirtBath

DirtBath is Newforest Institute's Urban-Rural Schools Project. It is a partnership between Newforest Institute, the Jersey City, N.JMS 4 planting fun at Liberty State Park., Board of Education, private and charter schools, plus The Community School in Camden, Maine, and School Administrative District 3 in Waldo County, Maine.

Newforest Institute is an educational non-profit dedicated to the restoration of mutually sustaining relationships between people, communities and the land. DirtBath seeks to take that mission directly to the schools and support educators in their exploration of the natural world as a classroom.

The 2008-2009 school year was dedicated to ground preparation, research in communication building and mission alignment. In the 2009-2010 school year, the plan is to focus on a handful of schools ready to break ground on an approximately three-year process of traCooking with Walker School in the outdoor bread oven at NI Maine locationnsformation into full demonstration schools.

We understand that this is a truly organic process and the path is ever winding. We look forward to working with our partners to fine-tune the processes, adding new relationships and projects along the way.

To keep up on happenings within the partnership, we have created the Partnership Post e-newsletter. Review old editions ONE (Kick Off) or TWO (Year 1 Wrapup).
